My name is Kelly, and I’m the girl behind Step into Strength.
I love Jesus, puppies, being creative, and anything floral print! I find happiness in the littlest of things (being sick will have that affect on you)! I have a huge passion for helping others and wish to do that in any way I can. I want to spread love and strength; lifting your spirits and leaving you better off than when you first came to my page.
I have found that when we are suffering we tend to believe that we are alone, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth. My hope is that in reading about my journey, you will have many comforting moments of realizing that what you are going through or feeling isn’t that uncommon, and in fact, that others feel exactly the same way.
I have several life-altering, debilitating chronic illnesses; symptoms from head to toe and everything in between. Doctors tend to call me a “medical mystery” (not something I’m too proud of). With symptoms starting at age 13, I was undiagnosed for the longest time (about 8 years) before signs actually showed in tests, procedures, and surgeries. To this day, at the age of 26, I still have symptoms and pains that can’t really be pin-pointed, but I do have diagnostic evidence for many of my health issues, and for that, I am thankful, for it has led me to better care.
I have been diagnosed with: Adenomyosis (total hysterectomy June 2016), Chronic Migraines, Dextroscoliosis, Endometriosis, Gastritis, GERD/Acid Reflux, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (unspecified), Interstitial Cystitis, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I have been through a lot with my health (more than I’d like to remember) and still have challenges each day, but it has only made my faith stronger. I know what it’s like to hold onto that last thread of hope, but know that it’s worth holding onto. God can turn any mess or mistake into something beautiful for His glory.
If you take anything away from me, I hope it’s that no matter how broken you feel, you are never too far gone to receive God’s love, blessings, and favor. He will meet you right in the middle of your circumstances, walk with you through the battle field, and bring you safely to solid ground.
In the lowest of valleys you can confidently say, “Though I have fallen, I will rise”.
